Two people were killed and 15 were injured in the Iraqi capital Baghdad during clashes between demonstrators and security personnel. This was reported by the Commission on Human Rights in Iraq.
Clashes erupted on Sunday in central Baghdad in Tahrir Square, which was occupied by protesters demanding better living conditions and fighting corruption.
“Clashes with live ammunition, rubber bullets and tear gas resulted in the death of two demonstrators, and 11 more were injured, some of them seriously. Four security personnel were also injured,” the commission said in a statement.
According to human rights activists, eight tents of the demonstrators who occupied the square were burned.
