The head of the German Foreign Ministry, Heiko Maas, believes that changes in US foreign policy should not be expected.
He is confident that even if Donald Trump loses his presidency, nothing will change in this matter. In particular, we are talking about relations with the European Union.
“The United States no longer wants to carry out the functions of a world gendarme on the same scale as before. Therefore, Europe in the future must increasingly rely on itself in solving its own security problems, ” said Maas.
He noted that relations between Berlin and Washington have become more strained. The reason for this is the arbitrariness of the United States: they make decisions completely without regard for their European partners.
