Russia is counting on cooperation with China in the fight against falsification of history, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that in this, Russia and China, like the whole world, are celebrating 75 years of victory in World War II.
“The peoples of the Soviet Union, China took the blow, a huge blow from the militarists, fascists, went through the most severe tests, and we, of course, pay increased attention to objective coverage of the events of those years, upholding the results of World War II, the fight against attempts to falsify history. We look forward to media interaction with Chinese partners in this area”, – Zakharova said during her opening remarks within the framework of inter-MFA consultations on information issues at the level of official representatives of the foreign ministries of Russia and China.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that some European countries are trying to rewrite history. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Russia is obliged to ensure the preservation of the truth about the Great Patriotic War and resist attempts to falsify its history. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said, work to prevent distortion of the historical truth will continue.
