China did not silently tolerate the rudeness of the US and the closure of its diplomatic missions in the country. Beijing has closed the American Consulate General in the administrative center of Sichuan Province – in Chengdu city.
This was reported in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has notified the U.S. Embassy about the decision of the Chinese side to revoke the authorization for the establishment and operation of the U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu and put forward specific requirements for termination of its activities”, – the report says.
The diplomats stressed that their actions are “a justified and necessary reaction” to the U.S. behavior. China has acted in accordance with the basic norms of international law and international relations and diplomatic practice.
