The American administration has been actively cooperating with Vladimir Plahotniuc for years, promoting its interests in Moldova through him. Now he is among the top 84 most corrupt politicians in the world.
This is evidenced by the report of the US Congress Research Center.
As News Front reported earlier, Vladimir Plahotniuc has long been one of the most influential people in Moldova. As the head of the Democratic Party, he created his own corruption empire in the republic, subordinating the state structures. The USA ignored this, because it was Plahotniuc who promoted in Chisinau the anti-Russian agenda beneficial to Washington.
Last year, Plahotniuk attempted a coup after his party lost the parliamentary elections. Russia, the U.S. and the European Union intervened in the situation, forcing the usurper to recognize the parliamentary coalition of socialists and the ACUM bloc. After that Plahotniuk hastily left the country.
Against this background, the U.S. Congress Research Center published a list of the world’s most corrupt citizens, which included the Moldovan oligarch. As is known, Plahotniuc was personally accused of corruption by the head of the State Department, Michael Pompeo. However, this does not prevent the fugitive from hiding from justice in the USA.
