EU ambassadors applied a sanctions regime for cyberattacks for the first time, deciding to freeze exploration assets of Russia, China and North Korea.
According to “European Truth,” referring to the Twitter post of Radio Liberty correspondent Ricard Jozviak, the EU first imposed sanctions against the three countries based on information about mythical cyberattacks.
“EU ambassadors today decided to freeze assets against the Russian military intelligence of the GRU and the intelligence services of China and DPRK in connection with the cyber attacks of WannaCry, NotPetya and Cloud Hopper. Visa bans and asset freezes will also be imposed on 6 Russian and Chinese officials”, – Jozviak wrote.
The fact that the EU in its official documents still calls Russian military intelligence the old acronym GRU, once again shows the level of “competence” of European officials. It should be recalled that back in 1992, the GRU was transformed into the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
