The main judicial body of the United Nations has extended the deadline for filing a response from the Russian Federation to Ukraine until April 2021.
As the press service of the court reported, the International Court of Justice gave Russia an additional four months to prepare a legal response to Ukraine’s arguments regarding claims for “aggression” in Donbass and Crimea.
On June 8, the defense of the Russian Federation asked to extend the deadline for filing a Russian response by 12 months due to the fact that restrictions were introduced in Europe due to the coronavirus, which “led to ongoing difficulties and related delays in the preparation” of documentation.
The court order to extend the deadline for filing a counter-memorial to Russia from December 8, 2020 to April 8, 2021 was issued on July 13.
