Bolton thinks Trump can’t have an equal dialogue with Putin

According to the former assistant to the President, Trump is inferior to Putin in his ability to think strategically

Former national security aide to President Donald Trump, John Bolton, believes the U.S. leader does not have enough preparation to conduct a dialogue on equal terms at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Bolton expressed that opinion in an interview with WPTV, a piece of which was aired on Monday.

Bolton said he was confident that Trump was inferior to Putin in his ability to think strategically. Comparing Trump to Putin, the former US presidential aide said: “If you put someone like him at the table on the one hand and Donald Trump on the other, who is relatively ignorant, has little knowledge of history and has no clear idea how he wants to talk, it wouldn’t be a fair fight.

In a June 21 interview with NBC journalists, the former presidential aide suggested that Putin is preparing his meetings more thoroughly than Trump.

Bolton’s book “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir” was published last month. It also criticizes Trump. U.S. authorities claim that Bolton has violated the confidentiality obligations he undertook by becoming an assistant to the president. Trump announced Bolton’s appointment in March 2018 and resigned 18 months later.
