Lawyer Yuri Radzievsky commented on the plans of the head of the executive committee of the National Council of Reforms Mikhail Saakashvili to carry out the next judicial reform in Ukraine.
“Each new government considers it necessary to reform the judicial system. The essence of these reforms is not to improve the work of the judicial system, but to simply establish control over it. Whether this control was established in favor of the Ukrainian leaders or in favor of international partners, there is not much difference here. With each such reform, the judicial system does not get better, it gets worse and worse. As a result, we risk completely losing our judicial system forever, and then there will simply be nothing to reform and nothing to establish control over”, – he said.
Radzievsky noted that foreign structures want to gain control over the judicial reform and are trying to achieve their goal through their grant structures operating in Ukraine.
This confirms Saakashvili’s desire to introduce foreigners into the Supreme Court.
“Ukraine is losing sovereignty more and more. We, Ukrainians, being on our land, make less and less decisions about the functioning of our country. At the same time, I am sure that no foreigners will care about our fate better than ourselves. Any foreigner who will choose judges in Ukraine or head supervisory councils, he, of course, will first of all think about his own interests and the interests of those structures that sent him to these positions <…> Until we ourselves take up the improvement of life in Ukraine, no one will solve this problem for us, no foreigners will work for the good of the people of Ukraine”, – the lawyer emphasized.
