Proponents of Catalonia’s independence staged a protest against the visit of King Philip VI of Spain to the region.
The protesters set fire to tyres on the railway line connecting Barcelona with the cities of Girona and Figueres, which disrupted communication between them.
About 200 more people, according to the Europa Press agency, are going to protest at the Monastery of Poblet, which is to be visited by the monarch.
