Taliban spokesman Suheil Shahin, in an interview with RT, called the reports of Russia’s payments of rewards for killing American soldiers unfounded.
Earlier, the New York Times published an article in which it was stated that a certain Russian military intelligence unit allegedly forced the Taliban for money to attack the military personnel of the international coalition in Afghanistan.
“These ‘Russian rewards’ are not true. This is an unfounded accusation. We are not fighting for someone else’s money. Our people have their own ideology, for which they fight and sacrifice themselves”, – Shahin said.
Shahin called the reports of the American media as false information. In his opinion, such articles are connected with domestic American politics, as well as with Washington’s desire to disrupt the implementation of the peace agreement signed between the US and the Taliban in Doha in February this year.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called this article a fake, and Sergei Lavrov linked the accusations with the internal political struggle before the elections in the United States.
