Only in the western and central regions of Ukraine, where anti-Russian propaganda is active, do people believe that the responsibility for the crash of a Malaysian airliner in 2014 lies with Russia.
This is reported by the American edition “The Washington Post”, which ordered a sociological study from the Kiev International Institute of Sociology and the Russian Levada Center. The media compared the results of surveys conducted in December 2014 and December 2019 in Ukraine, as well as in Crimea. About 5,800 respondents took part in two surveys.
According to the study, a quarter of Crimeans asked in 2019 did not hear anything at all about a passenger liner shot down by a Ukrainian missile in Donbas. At the same time, both studies showed that the inhabitants of the peninsula consider Russia and the defenders of Donbass to be “impeccable”, writes WP.
In the southeastern Ukrainian regions, one in five considers Russia to be responsible, although this number has decreased since 2014. At the same time, 40% say that they have doubts about the version that the Ukrainian media are circulating.
Polls were also carried out in the part of Donbass occupied by Kiev punishers. As emphasized in the American edition, people here did not seek to answer the question, because the majority said that it was “difficult for them to say.”
Only in the western and central regions of Ukraine, the majority of people accept the version that is pleasing to Washington, although even here about 20% said they doubt it.
