The presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan, instructed their departments to start negotiations on the restoration of air traffic, spokesman for the Russian head of state Dmitry Peskov said.
Answering the corresponding question, he noted that the presidents during the telephone conversation on July 13 touched upon the topic of restoration of flights.
“The topic was touched. They gave instructions to the relevant departments to begin negotiations”, – RIA Novosti quoted Peskov as saying.
Earlier it was reported that Moscow and Ankara agreed to resume flights. The Turkish Anadolu agency, citing the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the country, said that the resumption of flights from the Russian Federation begins on Wednesday, July 15.
Starting July 15, Russia will begin to gradually remove restrictions on flights abroad introduced on March 27 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Air traffic will resume with those countries where the incidence of coronavirus is no more than 40 cases per hundred thousand people, the average daily increase in the number of cases and the prevalence rate of COVID-19 in these countries should not exceed 1%.
