China gave a tough rebuke to the US on the issue of the South China Sea

According to TASS, a message was published on the Twitter page of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, where China criticized US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo for speaking out about the illegality of Beijing’s claims for resources on the bottom of the South China Sea.

“China’s position in the South China Sea is consistent and clear. Firmly defending its territorial sovereignty and rights and interests at sea, China adheres to a policy of resolving disputes through negotiations and meetings with directly related states <…>. The US is not a country directly involved in these disputes, but continues to intervene in this matter, ”the document says.

Recall that yesterday the United States, through the mouth of its Secretary of State, rejected China’s claims for offshore resources in most of the South China Sea.

“We make it clear: Beijing’s claims for offshore resources in most of the South China Sea are absolutely illegal, as well as its intimidation campaign to control them … The world will not allow Beijing to consider the South China Sea as its maritime empire,” said Pompeo.
