Putin had a telephone conversation with the President of China

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, and the conversation was initiated by the Chinese side, according to the Kremlin’s official website.

It is clarified that Xi Jinping congratulated the Russian leader on the successful holding of a popular vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

“The great importance of this step was noted for strengthening Russian statehood and sustainable socio-economic development of the country. Strong mutual support was expressed in matters of protecting sovereignty, preventing interference in internal affairs from the outside and ensuring the rule of law in international law”, – the statement said.

Putin thanked the President of the PRC for sending a representative delegation and a unit of the People’s Liberation Army of China to participate in a ceremonial parade to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“The level of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries was highly appreciated. According to the mutual opinion, the assistance provided by Russia and China to each other during the most difficult period of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic was a vivid manifestation”, – the site added.

In addition, they emphasized the desire and active buildup of economic cooperation, relying on large-scale projects in the fields of hydrocarbon supplies, peaceful atom, civil aircraft, scientific, technical and innovative cooperation.
