Media police arrested dozens of farmers says in the Netherlands during protests

Police arrested dozens of farmers who blocked the passage to the waste processing plant in protest, the NY Times portal reported.

Police arrested farmers on Wednesday morning in the province of Drenthe for violating the ban on protests using agricultural machinery. Dozens of vehicles blocked the road to Attero’s recycling company in Weister, police said.

Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland decided to temporarily ban the protest using agricultural machinery. According to local law enforcement agencies, such protests in recent days have not been announced in advance, which does not allow for security. The ban is valid until at least Monday.

Since last week, farmers have been protesting against plans by Minister of Agriculture Carola Scouthen to ban protein from animal feed in September to reduce nitric oxide emissions.
