“Demolition of the dam during the flood.” Germany attacked the United States after leaving WHO

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas believes that the United States is setting a bad example for other countries, leaving the World Health Organization in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The US exit from WHO is the wrong signal at the wrong time. COVID-19 is the first global crisis of our time, and to overcome it, we need global cooperation, not the efforts of countries individually”, –  Maas quoted the official page of the German Foreign Ministry on Twitter.

In his view, US actions are comparable to “demolition of a dam during a flood.”

On July 7, US President Donald Trump officially notified Congress of the country’s withdrawal from WHO. Prior to this, he stated that the United States is ending relations with WHO, as the organization “refused to carry out the required reforms.” In addition, Trump accused WHO of concealing the scale of the coronavirus epidemic in the interests of China.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced an outbreak of the new coronavirus pandemic on March 11. In total, the number of cases in the world exceeds 11 million, over the entire time over 500 thousand people have died from infection.
