In connection with new outbreaks of coronavirus in the United States, residents of the Mexican border town of Sonoit blocked a checkpoint.

According to media reports, Mexicans staged a protest after it became known about the scale of the epidemic in the neighboring US state of Arizona. In total, the number of infected here reached 98 thousand. In this regard, the residents of Sonoit, starting from the weekend, block the passage of US citizens across the border.
On Saturday, they drove their cars to the checkpoint, blocking the road. On the same day, the mayor of Sonoita, José Ramos Arzate, called on American tourists not to visit Mexico. According to him, the Americans are entitled to enter solely “for the sake of holding important events.” The protest continues today.
