Car drives into protesters in Washington state

A car drove into protesters on a blocked Washington motorway on Saturday night, two people were hospitalized, ABC News reported citing the state patrol.

According to the channel, patrol spokesman Rick Johnson said the car drove along an blocked section of Interstate 5, knocking down several people. It is noted that one person received life-threatening injuries, the condition of the second is assessed as serious.

The suspect is in custody. According to the TV channel, because of the protests, the section of the I-5 highway, which passes through the territories of three states, has been repeatedly closed in the last 24 hours.

Since the end of May, protests and riots have been taking place in many large US cities over the death of African-American George Floyd during police detention. One of the policemen, who knelt over Floyd’s neck for several minutes, was charged with murder, the other three of complicity in the murder.
