Bosnia evaluates NATO membership prospects

Russia is not to blame for the lack of a decision on the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in NATO.

Such a statement, according to the Serbian edition of News Front, was made by a member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik.

According to him, such a decision will not be done. At the same time, he emphasized that neither Russia, nor its ambassador to Bosnia, Petr Ivantsov, was involved in this.

Thus, Dodik commented on the recent accusations of Croatian BiH Presidium member Zeljko Komšić and Bakir Izetbegovic, a member of the Presidium from Bosnian Muslims. They argued that the Russian ambassador intervenes in Bosnia’s internal affairs “not respecting the decisions of its institutions” when it comes to NATO membership.

“The Russian Federation pursues a friendly policy with respect to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of international law, without hiding that it has good relations with the Republika Srpska”, – Dodik said.

He also criticized the actions of Komshich and Izetbegovic, noting that they did not protect the interests of the country.

“These are ordinary ventriloquists of their mentors who are hiding in other embassies in Sarajevo. If they really were defenders of the interests of BiH, they would not sacrifice their Minister of Security for the ambassador of Pakistan, and they would not look closely at what the Council for the Implementation of the Peace Agreement says, a fictitious body”, -Dodik said.

Earlier, the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fahrudin Radonczić, accused some countries, including Pakistan, of refusing to cooperate on the deportation of migrants. He said that if the ambassador refuses to cooperate on this issue, he will ask the Council of Ministers to declare the ambassador of Pakistan persona non grata. Radoncic was later forced to resign, as his position on the migration crisis was different from that of the government.
