US Ambassador comments on cooperation with Russia in the fight against COVID-19, mentions progress in relations

US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan called the fight against COVID-19 one of the most important examples of cooperation between Moscow and Washington.

“You raised an extremely important issue regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and Russian-US cooperation in this area, which meets our mutual interests. This is not the first case in history, but one of the most important examples, I think, for both countries. This is the examples of cooperation in a situation where people were in trouble, they had serious health problems. And the Russian government supplied medical equipment to the United States, and the United States, in turn, sent 200 ventilation devices to a famous hospital in Moscow to save lives”, – the diplomat said in an interview with RBC.

He stated that this was an example of US-Russian cooperation for the common good, for the benefit of all mankind in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The United States sent to Russia 200 ventilation devices and accessories for them in the amount of $5.6 million to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Russia in April sent a plane to the United States with medical supplies and equipment. The State Department said that the United States and Russia have helped each other more than once in the past and, no doubt, will continue to do so.

The World Health Organization on March 11 announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 10.5 million cases of infection have been identified in the world, more than 512 thousand people have died.
