In Germany, seven American soldiers were injured in parachute jumping

Seven U.S. Army soldiers were injured in a parachute jump in Germany, three in serious condition, the regional online publication Oberpfalz Echo reports.


According to the newspaper, the tragedy occurred Wednesday night, soldiers at the U.S. Army Training Base in Grafenwoehr who were practicing parachuting were mistakenly thrown into trees. All victims were referred to nearby hospitals.

Local rescuers and police were called to the site of the tragedy. Rescue and police helicopters from Nuremberg were also involved. They helped to find the parachutists, some of whom had to be removed from the trees where they were tangled up in the branches. Exercises are currently underway at the Grafenwore base, according to the publication.
