The US Senate has included additional sanctions on Nord Stream 2 in the draft national defense budget, Republican Congressman Steve Womack said Tuesday.
Womak said that the Russian authorities want to use the project as a tool of coercion, and its goal is to increase the dependence of Poland and Ukraine on Russian gas.
“I am proud to be a co-author of sanctions aimed at stopping its construction and applaud the Senate for including this priority in the draft national defense budget”, – he wrote on his Twitter.
