Media: at least two people killed in a terrorist attack in India

Three policemen were injured.

At least one Indian paramilitary police officer and one civilian were killed and three others injured on Wednesday in a terrorist attack on a police patrol in allied Jammu and Kashmir territory in northern India. The incident took place near the town of Soporo in Baramullah district, NDTV reported.

According to this information, the guerrillas opened fire on the patrol around 7:30 am and fled. Law enforcers began an operation to sweep the area and search for the militants.

More than 100 terrorists, including more than 10 field commanders from various extremist groups and foreign mercenaries, including from Pakistan, were killed in 35 security operations in the region in 2020, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Police Dilbagh Singh said earlier this month.

The Government of India abolished the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 and created two allied territories in its place, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This provoked a strong reaction from Pakistan, which claimed the territory of Kashmir, which had been divided into Indian and Pakistani parts since 1947. New Delhi has consistently accused Islamabad of supporting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistan has denied these accusations.
