Two trains drove towards each other: from Crimea – with goods from republican producers, from mainland Russia – with fuel, grain, fertilizers and building materials.
According to Kryminform, freight rail links between Crimea and mainland Russia started today with the passage of the first pair of trains.
“Launch freight railway traffic on the Crimean bridge,” commanded the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Dietrich from the control room, starting the movement.
Earlier, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, expressed confidence that the launch of freight trains would equalize the logistics capabilities of Crimea and other regions of Russia.
“The discovery of the movement of freight trains on the Crimean bridge is an important contribution to the development of the Crimean economy. Now, in terms of logistics capabilities, Crimea is no different from other regions of our country. The launch of freight rail links will increase the supply of products and raw materials in both directions, and will also increase the investment attractiveness of the Crimea, ” Aksyonov said.
