Seven people, including one police officer and four security guards, died in a terrorist attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Geo News reported, citing sources in hospitals in Karachi.
“Four security guards and a police sub-inspector died, reflecting an attempt to storm the Pakistan Stock Exchange complex on the Chundrigar road to Karachi, also known as Pakistani Wall Street. Sources in the hospitals reported that seven dead and two wounded were brought to them”, – the channel said.
Previously, it was reported that the attack also killed two civilians.
Karachi Police Inspector General Mushtak Ahmed Mahar said earlier that the police eliminated all four terrorists who attacked the exchange building on Monday. Mahar noted that the attackers were dressed in clothing that police officers usually wear in their spare time.
The attackers who arrived by car to the exchange building blew up a grenade at its main entrance and opened indiscriminate firing. The attackers were armed with AK-47 assault rifles, hand grenades and explosives.
Police inspects the car in which the attackers arrived and searches for its owner.
