The President of Serbia is on a one-day visit to Brussels. The program of the trip includes meetings with EC President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Oliver Varheli, and EU Special Representative for the Dialogue of Belgrade and Pristina and other regional issues of the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajac.

Vucic has repeatedly stated that it expects Serbia to join the European Union in 2020, then 2025 became the expected date.

“I won’t tell you the details, but I’m pleased with the nuances we went through in the conversation with von der Leyen, I’m sure that we are optimistic about entering a new phase of EU-Serbia relations”, –  national television quoted Vucic.

“I expect that at the end of the mandate of the new government, we will complete negotiations on EU accession in 2024 and it is quite possible that Serbia will become a member of the EU by 2026”, – the Serbian president said.
