India’s Foreign Ministry warned China on Thursday that its reluctance to implement bilateral agreements on the withdrawal of troops from the line of effective control in Eastern Ladakh would have negative consequences for the two countries’ relations. India’s foreign ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava, quoted by The Times of India, said on Friday.
“We expect the Chinese side to understand this and ensure that peace and tranquillity at the border are restored as soon as possible”, – he said.
The diplomat stressed that “the continuation of the current situation [as a result of the military confrontation in Ladakh] will damage the development of bilateral relations.
“Since early May, China has concentrated troops and weapons along the line of effective control in eastern Ladakh. This is not in line with our bilateral agreements”, – Shrivastawa said. – “It’s clearly established that it was China’s actions that led to tensions in the region and clashes that resulted in the deaths of soldiers of the two countries.”
