The poster promoting the LGBT community in Jerusalem has caused Israeli officials to confront American officials.
According to The Times of Israel, when an LGBT flag poster with a slogan in support of homosexuals appeared in the city, a local official ordered a cloth to cover the banner. The incident occurred in the municipality where one of the U.S. Embassy buildings is located. When U.S. diplomats learned of the incident, they criticized the local authorities.
“While U.S. Ambassador [U.S. Ambassador David] Freedman is defending annexation in the United States, are you invading our sovereign territory here?” – commented on the incident by an embassy employee on Channel 12.
He implied that the head of the diplomatic mission travelled to Washington to consult on Israel’s impending takeover of the West Bank.
The Deputy American Ambassador has already discussed the incident with the Mayor of Jerusalem Moshe Lyon. The mayor then called the actions of his subordinate a “failed mistake”.
