The Americans who needed help the most did not receive it – the results of government support in the United States

At the dawn of the crisis crown, Washington allocated $2 trillion to pay the Americans. However, this generosity concealed a lot of bureaucratic obstacles, because of which about 15 million citizens still have not received assistance.

This is reported by the “Newsweek” publication.

Analysts point out a sad pattern: those who need it most do not receive financial aid from the state. According to the New America Center, between 5 and 15 million low-income citizens have been left without promised 2 thousand dollars. The Center for Budget and Political Priorities estimates that there are 12 million of them.

“It’s a little ironic that the people who need [government support] the most are the least likely to get it”, –  said New America’s Tara McGuinness. – From what we know, it seems that the more economically unstable you are, the less likely you are to get one of those cheques.

Remarkably, the obstacle has remained the same for several months. People who have not filed annual declarations due to their low income face a bureaucratic machine and have to collect many documents and references in the context of the pandemic.

Moreover, since the beginning of the crisis, the US Internal Revenue Service has not yet developed a full-fledged online service that allows for remote submission of documents.
