Protests in Washington, D.C. grew into riots as police pushed out protesters from Lafayette Square who tried to demolish the statue of the seventh US President Andrew Jackson.
Protesters fell the temporary fence around the monument, some climbed up to tie it up with a rope, and the crowd shouted out, “Andrew Jackson must go!”
Clashes began as the police tried to form a barrier around the statue. As a result, the orderly guards had to use pepper spray.
