Sea-Watch 3 saved 211 migrants

A few days ago, the German rescue ship Sea-Watch 3 took on board more than 200 migrants. Now the ship docked in the port of Sicily. Now all rescued refugees must be quarantined.

The German rescue ship Sea-Watch 3, with 211 migrants on board, entered the port of Porto Empedocle in Sicily.

“After a long route, #SeaWatch3 is finally at Porto Empedocles,” the relief organization tweeted.

According to a medical examination, people must be transported by land on a ferry to comply with quarantine.

“The distribution of rescued migrants to EU countries should begin immediately,” the organization said.

According to Sea-Watch 3, the migrants were in three different boats. After saving the migrants, the ship was looking for a safe port. Italy and Malta declared themselves unsafe ports in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, only now a rescue ship with migrants moored ashore after lengthy negotiations and promises to comply with quarantine.
