The US administration proposed on its terms to transfer Crimea to the disposal of Russia.

According to the ex-official, in 2014, Democratic President Barack Obama proposed a deal to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The White House was ready to resolve the situation with Crimea if Moscow did not interfere with further US work in the Ukrainian direction.
“He [Putin] said that Obama clearly told him in 2014 that if Russia does not go beyond the annexation of Crimea, the confrontation over Ukraine can be resolved. However, something made Obama change his mind”, – Bolton writes.
Recall that the Crimea returned to Russia in 2014 against the backdrop of the coup that took place in Kiev. Then 96.57% of the inhabitants of the peninsula supported reunification with the Russian Federation.
