In Washington, a monument to the Confederate, which supported slavery, was demolished. The statue of Albert Pike was knocked down, doused with fuel and set on fire under the general glee and cries of Fuck you. The police who were near the headquarters for several minutes after the arson did not take any action. Then about 10 police officers arrived at the scene and put out the fire. Police did not enter into clashes with protesters. The monument has been standing since 1901.

Earlier, a monument to Christopher Columbus, who was accused of genocide of the indigenous population of America, was demolished in Minnesota. In Portland, protesters demolished a monument to George Washington – they wound an American flag on their heads and set it on fire.
