This training system will be accessible to small NATO countries whose military pilot needs do not justify establishing their own training centres.
NATO has launched a joint training program for military pilots from the European alliance countries. This was reported by the press service of NATO on Friday.
“11 NATO countries have launched an initiative to create a system of training centers for military pilots on the European continent. Defense Ministers of Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey and Croatia signed a letter of intent, confirming the creation of the European Flight Training Initiative (NFTE), aimed at uniting to train pilots of combat aircraft, helicopters and drone operators”, – the press service said.
It also notes that access to this training system will be available to “a number of small NATO countries, whose needs for military pilots do not justify the creation of their own training centers. This letter was signed in virtual mode after a two-day session of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense ministers on July 17-18. The participating countries have already started discussing the prospects for sharing the existing training centres as fully as possible for aircrew personnel.
