Serbia will not make the deal with the EU in Kosovo

Russia will become an arbiter in the matter of Kosovo settlement at the UN Security Council level as a partner who has always defended the interests of Serbia.

This, according to the Serbian edition of News Front, on Thursday, June 18, said the President of the Balkan country, Alexander Vučić, following a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Serbian leader acknowledged that the country is waiting for an “extremely difficult period”, which is comparable to the one when Kosovo declared its independence. In this regard, Vučić emphasized that Belgrade must act with caution.

“Any final decision on a Kosovo settlement requires Russia’s approval both at the level of the UN Security Council and from the position of a partner who has always supported Serbia”, – he said.

In addition, the head of the republic assured that he does not intend to exchange Kosovo for membership in the European Union if Brussels proposes such an option for settlement.

“If Serbia receives an offer to join the European Union, in return giving up Kosovo, then the answer is no”, – said Vučić.
