Yang Jiechi, head of the office of the Communist Party of China for Foreign Affairs, said that Beijing is ready to develop relations with Washington, but it should happen on equal terms.
“China is committed to working together with the American side to develop relations (…), mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation. At the same time, we will stand firm for our sovereign interests in security and development”, – he said at a meeting with U.S. State Department head Mike Pompeo.
During the talks he expressed China’s position on Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang issues, the Chinese Foreign Ministry informs.
Jiechi emphasized that Taiwan is an integral part of China.
