Victoria Nuland, who in the past served as the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, advises Washington to build up influence in Russia.
In particular, she recommends influencing youth.
She wrote about this in a new issue of the journal Foreign Affairs for July – August.
According to the standard, she accused Russia of all sins: it allegedly interferes in elections, violates agreements, etc. And at the same time, “Washington in recent years either did not show sufficient rigidity in relation to Moscow”.
“The sanctions of the United States and its allies, although initially painful, have become leaky or inactive from overuse, they no longer impress the Kremlin”, – Nuland said.
Moreover, she is outraged that “Russia has learned to masterfully use the differences between the United States and its allies”. So what does the Russian Federation mean that the States are not able to build normal relations with allies?
Nuland advises “appeal to the Russians”. Like, they need to be convinced that the USA is “white and fluffy”. And for young people aged 16 to 22, you generally need to enter a visa-free regime. Well, and, of course, we must not forget about the social networks that you need to use to “appeal to young Russians”.
It would be better to monitor the situation at home, rather than telling how to intervene in other countries. Russia is blamed for this, and they themselves openly discuss how to “influence young Russians”.
