The U.S. President’s special representative in the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, Richard Grennell, said that Pristina would stop applying for membership in international organizations and Belgrade would suspend the campaign to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
“Great news! I have received confirmation from Belgrade and Pristina that they are committed to temporarily halt the campaign to withdraw Kosovo’s recognition of independence and lobbying for membership in international organizations for a meeting in Washington at the White House on 27 June”, – he wrote on Twitter.
At the same time, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic noted that he does not trust the promises of the Albanians:
“If what U.S. President Special Representative Richard Grennell wrote on Twitter is accurate, it means he has received a promise from Pristina to stop the campaign to recognize Kosovo as an independent state and to apply for international organizations to accept Kosovo. And this was the position of Serbia, which had been voiced by President Aleksandar Vucic years earlier. The problem, however, is that we do not believe the Albanians from Pristina, because until now they have lied and taken unilateral steps, for example when they signed the Brussels Accords, but have refused to create the Community of Serbian Municipalities for seven years now”.
