AP: American fatal outcomes outpaces amount of US people dead due to WWI

The result of negligent policy marked with protraction is especially evident now. The registered death toll as of June, 16, 2020, according to Johns Hopkins University, amounted to 116,526. The number of Americans who died in World War I is 116,516.

This is reported by the Associated Press agency.

Naturally, the fixed numbers are not entirely accurate because of the insufficient amount of testing during the COVID-19 pandemic and the hardships of counting those who faced fatality in far places during World War I one hundred years ago.

But historians and the Congressional Research Service believe that 116,516 is the best figure for WWI battlefield deaths.
