34 refugees returned to Syria in 24 hours

More than 30 refugees returned to Syria from Lebanon in the past 24 hours, according to the newsletter of the reception, distribution and accommodation centre published on the Russian Ministry of Defence Facebook page.

“Over the past 24 hours, 34 refugees (including 10 women and 17 children) have returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from Lebanon through the Jeidet Yabus and Tell Kalah crossing points. There was no withdrawal of refugees from Jordan through the Nasib crossing point”, –  the Bulletin says.

One refugee returned within 24 hours to his place of permanent residence in the country.

It is added that Syrian Armed Forces engineering units have cleared 2.2 hectares of land in Duma (Damascus province), Jassim and al-Harra (Deraa province) within 24 hours. 34 explosive objects were detected and destroyed.

The armed conflict in Syria has continued since 2011. At the end of 2017, it was announced that the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq had been defeated. Militant clean-up operations continue in parts of the country. A political settlement, the reconstruction of Syria and the return of refugees are now at the forefront.
