Turkish authorities are seeking to tighten the stance of the North Atlantic alliance towards Kurdish separatists, in exchange for their agreement to implement new NATO defense plans in Eastern Europe.
According to the German publication Sueddeutsche Zeiting, citing diplomatic sources, Turkey is ready to reconsider its position if the Kurdish groups PYD Democratic Union and YPG Self-Defense Forces are recognized as terrorist organizations.
“A number of NATO countries do not agree with this condition,” the publication notes.
