Deputy Director of the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of Russian Academy of Sceincies, Ph.D. in History Tatyana Parkhalina, in an interview with the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, commented on Ukraine becoming a “partner of NATO’s expanded capabilities”.
She is sure that this is just a populist political gesture.
“In fact, the official concept of the institution of “expanded partnership” does not exist”, – the expert emphasized.
Parkhalina noted that the status will not give Kiev guarantees that NATO will rush to help in case of war. In addition, each country of the Alliance decides for itself whether to help or not. In the case of “partnership” this principle also works.
