“Don’t leave 25,000 families”: Nissan workers ask the Japanese not to close the Barcelona factory

Near the plant of the Japanese car concern Nissan in Barcelona, the closure of which became known on May 28, continues a large-scale protest of workers.

The protesters have blocked the entrance to the plant. They chant “Do not leave 25 thousand families”.
In addition, the protesters have blocked traffic on some roads near the plant. No information on clashes with the police yet.
Recall that the Japanese concern Nissan previously reported that in 2019 the plant in Barcelona worked at 30% of maximum capacity. In March this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, production was stopped. In early May, employees went on strike. The decision to close the plant means the reduction of about 3 thousand jobs, and this measure could affect tens of thousands of people.
