Saakashvili climbed into an election race in Georgia and created a scandal

It is reported that the Georgian Foreign Ministry will summon the Ukrainian ambassador because of Saakashvili’s statement about the fight against “destruction” of the country.

Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili published a report of American congressmen accusing the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, of “proximity to Putin” and participation in “destabilizing the situation in Georgia,” and stated that he “is not going to look calmly at the destruction and final destruction of Georgia.

“I really will be on the front line of the fight”, –  Saakashvili said.

In response, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani noted that there was an expectation that Saakashvili would continue to interfere in Georgia’s domestic politics.

“This is exactly the question that prompted us to take a very serious approach, which is why we recalled the Ambassador for consultations. This is exactly what we warned our Ukrainian colleagues – a man who has been appointed to one of the high offices, who is wanted by the Georgian justice system to be brought to justice in four independent cases continues to interfere in Georgia’s domestic politics. Naturally, the statement we heard yesterday is a direct interference in the internal affairs of another country and a direct interference of a Ukrainian citizen in the election process”, –  Zalkaliani said, adding that an ambassador will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry for clarification.

Current Minister of Justice of Georgia Thea Tsulukiani also responded to Saakashvili’s “revelations”.

“The National Movement, with the help of its lobbyists, is trying to return to the rhetoric of July 2012 that allegedly all of us, our leader, “Georgian Dream” are agents of the Kremlin. All this is ridiculous and not serious”, –  she said during a briefing at the ministry.
