Pushkov says new US sanctions will lead to a total economic war with Russia

The US Congress proposes that Russia be considered the “sponsor country of terrorism” and that it will impose even tougher sanctions on it.

Russian senator Alexei Pushkov commented on the information that Republicans in the House of Representatives of the Congress published a report on the national security strategy, where they propose the introduction of strict sanctions against the Russian Federation, Iran, and the Communist Party of China. Growth may involve oil and gas projects, sovereign debt, pro-Russian structures in other countries. The authors of the strategy propose defining the Russian Federation as a “country sponsor of terrorism”.

“The proposal of the Republicans is not just about activating the sanctions policy against Russia, but about transferring it to a qualitatively new level. The main thing in them is the disconnection of Russia from the SWIFT system of international settlements. Sanctions in themselves are an act of economic warfare. The sanctions proposed by the Republicans will transfer it to the level of the total economic war of the USA against Russia”, – Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
