Earlier, Pyongyang said it would block all communication lines with South Korea in response to sending anti-government propaganda leaflets to the North.
The DPRK Foreign Ministry calls on the US not to interfere in relations between DPRK and South Korea, as Washington “has no right to do so”. This was reported by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTAK) on Thursday.
“Relations between the DPRK and South Korea are a domestic issue and concern only our people, no one has the right to interfere in them”, – the agency quoted the statement of the DPRK foreign policy department.
As CTAK reports, Pyongyang criticized the US State Department’s statement calling on DPRK authorities to restore cooperation with the Republic of Korea.
CTAK announced earlier Tuesday that Pyongyang would soon block all communication lines with the Republic of Korea in response to South Korean public organizations sending anti-government propaganda leaflets to the North. According to the South Korean Unification Ministry, against this backdrop, DPRK has been ignoring phone calls by South Korean representatives to the inter-Korean communications office in Kaesong City since Tuesday morning.
According to the defense ministry of the Republic of Korea, the South Korean military also failed to contact representatives of the DPRK Armed Forces Command via two telephone lines. These communication channels are usually used to prevent armed incidents in the border area and to promptly resolve security issues.
