Authorities in the Argentine capital said they needed protective equipment for medics, tests and ventilators.
The authorities of the Argentine capital appealed to Russia and other countries for assistance in providing the means necessary to fight the coronavirus. This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Ambassador in Buenos Aires Dmitry Feoktistov.
“There were no such appeals at the governmental level, but there was an appeal to me from the Mayor of Buenos Aires, Oracio Larreta, in terms of supplying protective medical materials for the fight against coronavirus. But I think it was a circular address to all embassies”, – Theoktistov told reporters. – “This appeal was reported to Moscow, and as far as I know, this appeal is under consideration”, – the ambassador added. According to him, the Buenos Aires authorities said they needed protective equipment for medics, tests and ventilators.
Speaking about interaction with the Argentinean authorities on other topics, Feoktistov noted that “the dialogue continues, although in an online format”.
“There are topics on which we continue a rich dialogue. These are primarily Venezuela, disarmament, a number of other topics”, – added the ambassador. He also expressed hope that when all quarantine measures are lifted, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, Foreign Minister Felipe Sola, Vice-President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and President of the Lower House of Parliament Sergio Massa, who have been invited to visit Russia, will come to the country on an official visit.
