UK authorities comment on protests in the US

People should be able to hold peaceful protests, and journalists should be able to do their job, as the UK authorities have responded to protests in the US.

“The violence that we have seen in the US in recent days is clearly alarming”, – Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman James Slack said on Monday, commenting on the detention of several journalists while covering protests in the US.

“People should be allowed to protest peacefully. As the Foreign Minister said yesterday, the shots of George Floyd’s death deeply upset us, and we sympathize with all those who suffered”, – Slack added.
