The US President calls unrest in the country after the death of George Floyd “domestic terrorism”.
The US President Donald Trump called the riots that erupted in several states after the death of African-American George Floyd “domestic terrorism”. In his address to the White House, he also announced his readiness to resort to military assistance to suppress unrest in the country. It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
“If a city or state evades taking the necessary measures to protect the lives and property of its residents, I will use the US armed forces and quickly solve the problem for them”, – Trump said.
According to US media reports, the US president had previously called on state governors to be tougher against protesters and use force to curb unrest.
It is also reported that shortly before Donald Trump’s speech, police dispersed the demonstrators around the White House with the use of force. For the protesters, tear gas and stun grenades were used.
Recall that a wave of protests in the United States caused the death of 46-year-old African American George Floyd, who was strangled during detention by a white policeman. Demonstrations escalated into riots and clashes with the police. In many cities, curfews have been imposed and the National Guard has been deployed.
